You should wear something comfortable; jeans, shorts or a long skirt are common. It's not required, but a hip scarf would also be a good idea. Using a shawl is a good way to get started. Here are a couple of examples http://tinyurl.com/rjl63 and http://tinyurl.com/lkmol. If you decide belly dance is for you, here is a range of "real" hip scarves from simple to elaborate. http://www.aladdinscave.com/bellydance_hip_scarf.html (We are not selling any of these items, they are just examples. Type the words "hip scarf" into a search engine and enjoy!)
You can start any time. There are 7 classes and they repeat over and over, so anything you missed in the first classes will be back around in a few weeks.
You can stay and watch advanced classes/rehearsal classes if you like. Advancement to advanced is at your option. We require attendance at all 7 classes as a minimum to be eligible for performance. Performers must continue to come to at least half of both beginner and advanced classes. Our performances usually include a beginners dance that is all easy steps.
